Inspired by Tove Jansson’s beloved novel Moominpappa at Sea, this Hobonichi Techo cover depicts Moominmamma finding peace during the family’s life on a remote island. Embroidered in navy thread on pale mint cotton fabric, the cover shows Moominmamma peacefully sleeping in the garden she painted on the lighthouse wall. Above her, a quote is stitched in deep pink thread: “Well, it'll be another nice long day tomorrow.”
The back of the cover features an embroidered scene of the Moomin family gathered together on the island. Inside, the cover is lined in soft pink, with pockets made from the same fabric as the exterior. The right pocket features Moominpappa and Moomintroll out on a boat, working together to haul in a net and row across the water. Hidden inside the pocket is an English translation of a line spoken by Moominpappa in the novel.
The butterfly-stopper pen holders are decorated with delicate details and double as a clasp to keep the cover closed. Two bookmarks are finished with white shell and flower charms, adding a subtle seaside touch to the design.
